Placemat (2022) Table, chair, placemats, sawdust, dimensions variable

The common meanings that these objects represent create a playful space for cultural critique. A table is sawed in half leaving only enough room for a single place-setting, which is stocked with the sanded remains of the other-half. On the floor in front of the table, matching placemats are isolated out of their groups in a disordered arrangement. Together, the works disrupt a cultural logic about mealtimes that may be limiting for different subjectivities.
